To finish first, First you must finish

Lynn Dickton began desert racing in the 80’s with her husband in their Class 4 Dodge 4x4 truck. They took home many championships in the Class 4 Dodge truck. They raced the local Las Vegas, NV, racing association, HDRA (High Desert Racing Association), and finished in the 2nd position for their first year out. They raced that truck until the early 90’s when they built a single-seat Class 9 buggy, which Lynn raced at many SNORE races (Southern Nevada Off Road Enthusiasts), getting some podium positions throughout the years. In 2000, they acquired a single-seat Class 10 buggy pictured below. Lynn raced that car as well as others for a number of years. Lynn was hooked the first time she attended a desert race in the early 80’s at Virginia City, Nevada. The race was the VC 300 hosted by VORRA (Valley Off Road Racing Association). Lynn and her husband then built their Class 4 Dodge truck and never looked back. She loved co-driving but knew deep down she wanted that steering wheel. Lynn came from rodeo and was quite the barrel racer as a kid and teenager growing up in a small Northern California town in the Sierra’s. She’s always loved the competition, the horsepower, and going as fast as possible. They took a break from racing for a few years, but Lynn had that itch to be involved with desert racing however possible. In 1991, Lynn was invited to participate on the BF Goodrich pit support team as the timing and communication specialist for BF Goodrich Racing at desert races, both in Baja and the United States. Going into the 2025 racing season, Lynn will begin her 34th year in that position she holds today with BF Goodrich Racing Pit Support. She was also the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for SNORE (Southern Nevada Off Road Enthusiasts). She held that position for over 17 years at different times and loved working with the companies helping to put races on and working with the racers to get them signed up and make their racing experiences as great as possible. Deep down, the competitive side of Lynn was itching to get behind the wheel again. Lynn’s husband passed away in 2016, and after a few months, Lynn had an opportunity to buy their old Class 10 car back and started racing it in a number of VORRA and SNORE races. She teamed with a father/son team, Jason and Kyle Davis, from Pinon Hills, California, and off they went racing. Sadly, the old 10 car just isn’t capable of competing with the current class 10 cars, but Lynn and the Davis family haven’t given up. They did their best to race as much as possible and get some podiums along the way. In August 2024, Lynn teamed up with Scott Macias and bought a Can Am X3 to begin racing the 2025 season. They did compete in the 2024 Legacy Racing Association/VORRA Gold Rush 300. The race began just outside of Virginia City, Nevada, and finished in Tonopah, Nevada. The former owner and his co-driver took the car off the line and handed the Can Am over to Lynn Dickton and Kyle Davis in Hawthorne, Nevada. With 175 miles to the finish, they had a few suspension issues, which Kyle and the Extreem Macias Racing team managed to dial in with a couple of quick pit stops. They did have one drive belt break during their section, but that was another fairly quick change and they were back on their way. They finished 8th place out of 11 cars in the SXS Pro Turbo class. Extreem Macias Off Road Racing and Lynn then took the race car to the DREA Racing Slash X Powder Puff race for Breast Cancer in November 2024. Lynn and co-driver Kyle started in 4th place in their Can Am X3. By mile 5, they were in 2nd place, chasing down the 1st place car, which they caught and passed by mile 8 on lap 1. They kept up their quick pace and won their class as well as finishing 2nd overall for the unlimited heat that afternoon behind a 6100 Trophy Spec truck.
