"Well-behaved women rarely make history."
In 2014, at age 39, I started oval racing vintage snowmobiles in my hometown of Priest Lake, Idaho. We started with a tiny snow track, but the local organization (VSRPL) has built an amazing 1/4-mile+ ice oval track to support West Coast Vintage Snowmobile racing. I race in 5 different classes against both guys and gals and won the West Coast Vintage Ice Oval Championship in Ladies 440 SS in 2020 and 2022 on my 1974 Merc 440SS Trail Twister (white). My favorite ride is my 1975 Merc 340 SS Sno Twister (black) that I also raced in Ironwood, MI and Eagle River, WI in 2022.
I love racing and our community of vintage racers (ages 4 to 70). It's awesome seeing the number of female racers increase year over year (from 2 in the first year to dozens currently) and I always encourage young ladies to embrace their fear and GO FOR IT.
