"Telling someone they shouldn't ride because they might get hurt is like telling someone they shouldn't follow their dreams because they might not come true."

Briana Stark

I am 27 years old and I live in the tiniest little town of Virgil, IL, which is about 1.5 hours west of Chicago. I started riding at the age of 24 and did not come from a moto-family so I essentially started from scratch. With the help of my boyfriend, I learned the fundamentals of riding in my backyard and, within a few short weeks, I was riding on a motocross track! I have been riding a YZ250F ever since and my favorite place to ride is at Sunset Ridge MX in Walnut, IL. I started out riding with the minis until I felt confident enough to ride with the big bike classes. My goal is to give racing a try in 2021! Until then, I continue to set small goals for myself every time I get on my bike, like working on my corners, shifting gears smoother or just building my overall speed! I have come to realize that confidence is key in all aspects of motocross.

I want others interested in motocross, especially women, to know that it's never too late to hop on a bike and give it a try! Anyone can learn at any point in their life, no matter their background, because everyone starts somewhere! Plus, it definitely helps that everyone in the moto-community is so encouraging and supportive of new riders and I love that everyone is always willing to help another rider out.

During the week, I work at a nursing home where I do marketing and admissions to assist individuals and their families looking for rehab or long term placement for their loved ones. In my spare time (when I'm not riding), I lift daily at my local gym, boat and water ski in the summer months, and snow ski in the winter months.
